The sturdy stone of Gereja HKBP Batam Center stands before you. It’s a testament to faith in this vibrant Indonesian city. This isn’t just any church. Gereja HKBP Batam Center holds a special place in the heart of the HKBP Distrik XX Kepulauan Riau.
Officially inaugurated on October 4 2002 the church serves a vast area. This includes the entire Riau Islands province Singapore and Malaysia. The dedication ceremony marked a significant milestone for the HKBP community. It expanded the reach of their spiritual guidance.
What makes Gereja HKBP Batam Center unique is its strategic location. It sits adjacent to the Distrik XX Kepulauan Riau office. This proximity symbolizes the strong connection between the church and the administrative body. It also makes it a convenient location for many members.
Praeses Renova Sitorus presided over a pivotal Sunday service. This service officially established HKBP Batam Center as a full-fledged resort. This was in November 2021. Previously it operated as a preparatory resort starting in 2017. The service was a joyous occasion. It celebrated the growth and expansion of the church’s influence.
Pastor Marudut Simanjuntak currently leads the resort. He guides a congregation of approximately 836 families. That equates to about 2600 individuals. A remarkable statistic illustrating the thriving spiritual community. Notably HKBP Batam Center is an exceptional resort. It achieved full resort status without a traditional church fence. A requirement normally expected. Pastor Marudut plans to build a fence to fulfill the traditional requirements in the future.
