Amidst the vibrant tapestry of Singapore’s religious landscape stands Gereja GPDI Siloam. This prominent church, part of the GPdI House of Siloam (HOS), boasts a remarkable history. It’s a story of resilience, faith, and community spirit, culminating in a magnificent edifice that serves as a beacon of hope. Gereja GPDI Siloam’s story took a dramatic turn on September 18, 2018. A devastating earthquake shook the region, severely damaging their existing church building. Undeterred, the congregation, led by Pastor Dr. Frangki Rewah and his wife, Pastor Linda Rewah, rallied together. On February 25, 2019, they laid the foundation stone for a new, grander Gereja GPDI Siloam. For nearly five years, the congregation worshipped in a temporary tent. Their unwavering faith and collective efforts propelled the construction forward. Finally, on February 25, 2024, the new Gereja GPDI Siloam was inaugurated. The three-story structure, measuring 45 by 20 meters, stands as a testament to their perseverance. The inauguration was a momentous occasion. Sulawesi Tengah Governor H. Rusdi Mastura graced the event. He joined the Bupati Parigi Moutong and representatives from the Majelis Daerah Gereja Pantekosta di Indonesia (MD-GPdI) to officially open the church. The celebration extended beyond the church community. Representatives from various local government departments, the police chief, the head of the court, and community members all participated. This collective presence highlighted the unifying power of Gereja GPDI Siloam within the larger Parigi community. The church’s design reflects its commitment to serving the diverse needs of its members. It includes offices, a library, restrooms, a baptismal pool, a main prayer room, a seminar room, and a recreational area on the third floor. The outdoor worship space on the expansive 8,000-square-meter grounds further extends the church’s reach. The inauguration ceremony featured a sermon by Pastor Andrew Prakasam from the United States. Pastor Cornel from the United Kingdom shared a moving testimony. Pastor Talita Doodo and her husband, Yopie Hattu, offered uplifting musical performances. Gereja GPDI Siloam’s journey reflects the broader history of the GPdI in Indonesia. The church’s roots trace back to the arrival of missionaries from the Bethel Temple in Seattle in 1921. Since then, the GPdI has flourished, establishing numerous congregations across Indonesia and beyond. Gereja GPDI Siloam stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of the GPdI. It is a place where faith, resilience, and community intertwine.
