This isn’t just any high school. George Ranch High School stands proudly in Richmond Texas. It opened in 2010. The school was built to ease overcrowding in other Lamar Consolidated Independent School District high schools. It’s named after the historic George Ranch a testament to Texas pioneer spirit.

Albert and Mamie George pioneers themselves established the ranch. Mamie was a descendant of Stephen F Austin’s original settlers. The family’s history stretches back to 1822. The family’s land included a famous oak tree a playhouse for generations. The discovery of oil on the ranch greatly increased the family’s wealth. This wealth now supports The George Foundation a major benefactor in Fort Bend County.

George Ranch High School isn’t just about academics. It boasts a strong athletic program. In 2015 the school’s football team won the 5A/D1 State Championship. The Technology Student Association TSA is also incredibly popular. The school has a high number of national TSA appearances.

The school serves several communities. These include parts of Rosenberg unincorporated areas of Fort Bend County and parts of Sugar Land. Students from various elementary and middle schools feed into George Ranch High School. It is the southernmost of a three-school complex.

George Ranch High School has produced notable alumni. These include athletes like NFL players Darius Anderson and Kingsley Keke. Maddie Marlow of the country music duo Maddie & Tae is an alumna. Kevin Kopps a baseball player also graduated from George Ranch High School.
