Hidden amidst the towering structures of Denver’s Tech Center lies George M. Wallace Park. It’s a testament to the vision of its namesake, George M. Wallace, a key figure in the Tech Center’s development. He believed that technology and nature could coexist harmoniously. George M. Wallace Park embodies this vision. Established in 1971, this 24.8-acre park offers a welcome respite from the urban hustle. At the park’s north end, engraved stones narrate Wallace’s story. These stones are nestled among a series of strategically placed rocks, inviting exploration and discovery. George M. Wallace Park caters to diverse interests. Athletes can challenge themselves on the Goldsmith Gulch Trail, a 1.85-mile paved path perfect for running or biking. Those seeking a softer terrain can enjoy the grassy fields. There are even grassy hills for runners looking to build endurance. Freerunners and parkour enthusiasts have also found a haven in George M. Wallace Park. They utilize the concrete blocks, affectionately nicknamed “The Blocks”, to perform their acrobatic feats. Families can gather at the playground on the park’s north side. It features swings, slides, monkey bars, and other child-friendly equipment, all nestled within a large sandbox. For adults seeking a workout, George M. Wallace Park offers two calisthenics courses. The northern course, easily identifiable by its copper-colored equipment, provides various bars for exercises ranging from pull-ups to more advanced movements. A second, more challenging course is located at the park’s southernmost point. This bright-red course features rope swings, globe grasps, and inclined monkey bars. George M. Wallace Park is a public park, free for all to enjoy. Even those not inclined towards athletics can appreciate the park’s serene scenery. Dogs are welcome but must remain leashed. While currently lacking restroom facilities, the park remains a valuable asset to the community. It’s open from 5:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., offering a tranquil space for recreation and relaxation amidst the bustling Tech Center.
