Had the original founders of the Gemeindehaus Arche known its future, they would have been astonished. Here we stand before the Gemeindehaus Arche on Stille Gasse, a building with a more recent history than some might expect. The Gemeindehaus Arche wasn’t always here. It stands alongside a Pfarrhaus and an older Gemeindehaus from 1962. The Arche itself, a simple, unassuming structure reflecting the architectural style of its time, arose in 1967/68. Interestingly, it was built at the same time as the adjacent kindergarten. In 2002, the south window of the Gemeindehaus Arche received a makeover. A new glass cross was installed. At its center, a small ship symbolizes the community. The ship represents the church, carrying God’s son and his message of grace. This space within the Gemeindehaus Arche serves the community in multiple ways. It’s a multifunctional space, adapting to the needs of its people.
