Nearly a century ago, the seeds of Gateway Baptist Church were sown. In 1928, Reverend Edwin Keith from Greenslopes Baptist Church began a small Sunday school in Holland Park. This humble beginning blossomed into Holland Park Baptist Church in 1948. Gateway Baptist Church as we know it today took shape in 1998. The church acquired the Queensland Pavilion from Expo ’88 and land in Mackenzie. This marked a significant step in its journey. Gateway Baptist Church continued to grow and expand its reach. In 2012, Gateway South, now known as Gateway Ormeau, was established. This marked the beginning of Gateway’s multi-campus approach. The goal was to share their message with a wider audience. Further expansion followed in 2018 with the launch of Gateway Redlands and Gateway Logan. In 2019, Gateway Baptist Church opened its City campus in the heart of Brisbane. This allowed them to bring their message of hope to the city center. Even during challenging times, Gateway Baptist Church found ways to connect. In 2021, Gateway Online became an official campus. This provided a virtual space for people around the world to join the community. Gateway Baptist Church’s story is one of growth, adaptation, and a commitment to its mission. From a small Sunday school to a multi-campus church with a global online presence, it has continually sought to serve its community and share its message of faith.
