Craving convenient access to domestic flights? You’ve arrived at GATE 1 in San Diego International Airport. This isn’t just any gate. GATE 1 offers a gateway to numerous destinations within the United States.

San Diego International Airport has two main terminals. These are Terminal 1 and Terminal 2. You can easily get between the terminals. Pedestrian walkways are clearly marked. Shuttles also provide transport between the terminals.

Terminal 1 primarily handles domestic flights. It is a hub for several major airlines. The terminal has two concourses. These are East and West. Terminal 1 offers 14 gates. These gates are numbered 5 through 18. Please note that gates 1, 1A, 2, 3, and 4 were demolished in early 2022. This demolition supports the ongoing New T1 project.

Travelers at GATE 1 and Terminal 1 can enjoy a variety of amenities. These enhance the airport experience. Dining options provide a range of choices. Retail shops offer diverse products. Other passenger services cater to both leisure and business travelers. Terminal 1 does not currently house any lounges. However, its amenities are tailored to meet the needs of all passengers.

Access to GATE 1 and Terminal 1 is straightforward. Clear signage guides passengers from the main entrance. There is no automated transport system like a people mover. However, pedestrian walkways are well-marked. These provide easy navigation throughout the terminal. Passengers can also connect to Terminal 2 via shuttle services. This offers seamless transfer options for those needing to switch terminals.

The New T1 project is a noteworthy feature of Terminal 1. It aims to enhance the travel experience. It provides expanded facilities and modernized infrastructure. This development promises to improve the terminal’s efficiency and capacity. It is making it an even more appealing gateway for domestic travelers. The New San Diego Terminal 1 and Roadways project is designed to enhance the SDIA campus through 2035 projections. The new Terminal 1 and its corresponding concourse will include 30 new airport gates.

Designed as a “Glassy Garden Pavilion,” Terminal 1 offers generous gate-area seating. A large marketplace features diverse food and retail options. Copious amounts of daylight streams in. An outdoor dining terrace provides expansive views of San Diego’s harbor. An enhanced security checkpoint expedites travel.
