Were there enough apartments for everyone? This question must have preoccupied those involved in the construction of the Gästhaus der Universität L2 in 1982. You see, the Gästhaus der Universität L2, right here in front of us, was specifically built to accommodate the university’s international scholars. The Gästhaus der Universität L2, with its 32 apartments, aimed to provide a comfortable and convenient living experience for these visiting academics. The project was a joint effort, funded by the Alexander-von-Humboldt-Stiftung, the Ekkehard-Stiftung, and the state of Baden-Württemberg. Interestingly, the Gästhaus der Universität L2 is more than just a place to sleep. It also houses the Internationales Begegnungszentrum (IBZ) on the ground floor. This communal space, spanning roughly 300 square meters, offers a common room, a kitchen, and even a garden. This setup encourages interaction and fosters a sense of community among the international residents. It’s a testament to the university’s commitment to creating a welcoming and enriching environment for its visiting scholars.
