“A Church With A Fellowship and a Pastor with a Message,” boomed a voice from the church steps. We are standing here before the Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church. This vibrant church is a beacon of faith in the heart of Houston. The Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church is more than just a place of worship. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of its community. You might be surprised to learn that the church was once burdened by a $3.4 million mortgage. Under the leadership of Pastor Dennis Carl Jones, this debt was completely eradicated nine years ahead of schedule. Pastor Jones, a man with a vision for expansion, didn’t stop there. He spearheaded the purchase of 3.3 acres of land beside the church. This expansion allowed the Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church to further spread its message of faith and service. The church also completed significant upgrades to its existing sanctuary. Today, the Garden of Gethsemane Baptist Church continues to serve its community.
