We are now in Gangdong-gu. It is a district with much to discover. The Jungbu Express Motorway begins here. It runs through Sangil-dong. Sangil-dong sits at the district’s east end.

Let’s talk about Amsa-dong. It holds a prehistoric site about six thousand years old. Imagine people living here millennia ago. This site reveals ancient houses and pottery. The pottery is special. It is ceramic and shaped like corn.

Gangdong-gu has many administrative divisions. These include Gangil-dong and Godeok-dong. There is also Gil-dong and Dunchon-dong. Myeongil-dong, Sangil-dong, and Seongnae-dong are here too. Don’t forget Amsa-dong and Cheonho-dong.

Education is important in Gangdong District. There are 25 elementary schools. Also, there are 17 junior high schools. Twelve senior high schools serve the area. Hanyoung Foreign Language High School is a specialized school here. Jumong School provides special education.

Getting around Gangdong is easy. The Seoul Metro runs through here. Line 5 has a Macheon Branch. It stops at Gangdong, Dunchon-dong, and other stations. Also, the metro connects Amsa to Gangdong-gu Office.

Gangdong District has many sister cities. These include Bonghwa and Buyeo in South Korea. Fengtai and Hangzhou in China are also sister cities. Kent in the United States and Musashino in Japan are partners too.

There are many themed tours in Gangdong. One is the Dynamic! Gangdong tour. It focuses on shopping and food around Cheonho Station. Another is the Wind Sound Course. It’s a bicycle tour of major attractions. The Green Art Course explores art spaces. The Forest Course visits ecological sites along Iljasan Mountain. Finally, the River Breeze Course follows the Godeokcheon Stream. An Eco-friendly Energy Tour Course shows environmentally-friendly renewable energy.

Consider the Herb Astronomy Park. Or explore the Graveyard of Munhuigong Yu Chang. You could visit the Amsa-dong Prehistoric Settlement Site.
