Did Galeriehaus Nord always exist? No. Galeriehaus Nord emerged from the art department of the KUNO cultural center. In the 1980s, just one part-time employee managed the art department. Here we stand before Galeriehaus Nord, a testament to the power of artistic vision. Fast forward to 1993. The city of Nuremberg, recognizing the need for a dedicated art space, funded the construction of Galeriehaus Nord on the KUNO grounds. This was made possible through a grant from the city’s atelier fund and contributions from KUNO e.V.. The building itself enabled the exhibition operations of Galeriehaus Nord. Initially, the Galeriehaus e.V. association prepared and executed the exhibitions. Today, Galeriehaus Nord stands as a significant art venue in Nuremberg and beyond, a legacy spanning over 25 years. The ground floor boasts a 75 square meter exhibition space. Upstairs, a 40 square meter studio provides a nurturing space for young artists. Aspiring artists can apply for this coveted space. Galeriehaus Nord functions as the independent art department of KUNO. Margit Mohr leads the gallery, curating exhibitions with artist Mathias Otto. A team of freelancers supports their work, and the non-profit Galeriehaus e.V. further promotes the exhibitions. Galeriehaus Nord is more than just a building. It is a vibrant hub of creativity, a testament to the enduring power of art.
