Diekmann sued for damages. The court however ruled against him. They argued that as Bild’s editor-in-chief Diekmann willingly participated in a business that infringed on personality rights. He profited from it. Therefore he wasn’t entitled to maximum protection.
The relief also includes other people. They were involuntarily featured in controversial Bild headlines. The title Friede sei mit Dir is a double entendre. It refers both to “Peace be with you” and “Friede be with you”. Friede Springer is the publisher of Bild. She is depicted snake-charming on the fourth floor.
