The siren’s wail still echoes in my ears. A thrilling sound. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow. This is its home.
This fire station isn’t just bricks and mortar. It’s a testament to community spirit. A beacon of hope for Rudow since 1904. For over a century the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow has served its community. This team of dedicated volunteers has faced countless challenges. From small kitchen fires to major incidents. They’ve always answered the call.
They weren’t always here in this building though. Their history began long ago. In 1904 the first firefighters of Rudow bravely volunteered. They responded to emergencies with whatever equipment they had. The new building was a huge step forward. Its cornerstone was laid on April 27th 1977. A symbol of progress. A new era for the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow began. The station became fully operational on August 2nd 1978.
Another milestone was reached in 1981. The youth fire brigade was founded that year. Today young people are trained and inspired. They learn to become the next generation of firefighters. They’re learning valuable skills. Skills that go beyond fighting fires. They’re about teamwork and community service.
Their centennial celebrations in 2004 were a testament to their enduring legacy. A century of service. A century of dedication. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow isn’t just a fire station. It is the heart of Rudow.
Today the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow boasts a dedicated team. Thirty men and two women actively serve in the Einsatzabteilung. Eighteen members form the Ehrenabteilung. This speaks volumes about their commitment. Their unwavering dedication to serving others.
The Jugendfeuerwehr is also thriving. Twenty-eight boys and two girls are already learning. They are developing the skills to protect their community. If you are 12 or older you could join them.
So next time you hear the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow’s siren. Remember their unwavering service. Remember the history. Remember the community that stands behind them. Remember the brave people who dedicate their time to keep us safe. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Rudow a true example of community spirit. They’re not just firefighters. They’re Rudow’s heroes.
