What happens when two forces merge into one, stronger entity? Here at the Freiwillige Feuerwehr Görlitz Ortsfeuerwehr Stadtmitte, we see the living embodiment of that question. This isn’t just any fire station. It’s a testament to the power of unity and the dedication of those who serve. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Görlitz Ortsfeuerwehr Stadtmitte, inaugurated in September 2023, arose from the merging of two previously distinct entities: the Ortsfeuerwehr Stadtmitte from Gobbinstraße and the Ortsfeuerwehr Klingewalde/Königshufen. This fusion created a more robust and efficient force, better equipped to serve the heart of Görlitz. Their new home on Cottbuser Straße 14 is a state-of-the-art facility, a far cry from their previous separate locations. The old Stadtmitte station, nestled in the courtyard of the professional fire brigade since 1986, and the Klingewalde/Königshufen station on An der Alten Ziegelei Straße, became history. This new building symbolizes a fresh start, a stronger future. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Görlitz Ortsfeuerwehr Stadtmitte houses an impressive fleet of vehicles, ready to tackle any emergency. They have a HLF 20, LF 16/12 KatS, a SW 2000, a GW-G, and an MTW. Around 50 dedicated individuals, including 23 trained in breathing apparatus, make up the team. They are supported by a vibrant youth fire brigade and an active veterans’ association, ensuring the future of the force. The Freiwillige Feuerwehr Görlitz Ortsfeuerwehr Stadtmitte isn’t just about extinguishing fires. It’s a cornerstone of the community, a symbol of safety and resilience. They are part of the district’s disaster relief and play a crucial role in the hazardous materials unit. This station stands as a testament to their commitment. They stand ready to protect and serve, a unified force forged from two, ready for whatever challenges lie ahead.
