Welcome to Frassati Catholic High School in Spring Texas. This school is more than just bricks and mortar. It’s a place where young minds reach for the heights both academically and spiritually.
Frassati Catholic High School opened in 2013. It filled a need for a Catholic high school in northern Greater Houston. Before Frassati, students traveled long distances to attend Catholic schools. The nearest was a 45-minute drive. The North Houston Catholic High School Committee formed in 2007. Their goal was to establish a Catholic high school. Cardinal Daniel DiNardo approved the plans in October 2008. In 2010, the Dominican Sisters of St Cecilia agreed to operate the school.
The school is named after Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati. He was a young Italian man known for his faith and service to others. He lived in the early 1900s. Frassati loved the Eucharist. He spent much time in worship and prayer. Frassati would routinely go into the streets of Turin to feed and care for his community’s poor, sick and downtrodden. He befriended those in need and gave them hope in Jesus as well as help for their bodily needs. He died at the young age of 24. He is an inspiration to the students here.
The school sits on a 63-acre campus. The first phase of construction cost between $25 and $35 million. It included classrooms, science laboratories, a chapel, and a library. The school chose the Falcons as their mascot. Students selected it in an online poll.
Frassati Catholic High School offers a college preparatory curriculum. It includes Honors and AP courses. The school also emphasizes ethics and culture. Students take courses in Catholic philosophy, ethics, and bioethics. The student-to-teacher ratio is 11:1. Almost all academic classes are considered rigorous college-preparatory courses.
Frassati Catholic High School has a diverse student body. Approximately 25 percent receive tuition assistance. U.S. ethnic minorities comprise 45 percent of the school population.
The school offers many sports. These include volleyball, cross country, soccer, basketball, tennis, baseball, golf and track. Almost 80% of students participate in athletics. In 2019, the boys’ soccer team made it to the TAPPS 5A playoffs for the first time.
Frassati Catholic High School continues to grow. It provides a strong foundation for its students. Graduates have received millions in scholarships. The school fosters academic excellence and spiritual growth. It encourages students to reach for the heights in all they do. Frassati Catholic High School is more than just a school. It’s a community striving for something greater.
