“What does it mean to be prepared spiritually and physically for the second coming of Jesus Christ?” Bishop Dr. Fidele Masengo asked this question. Here at the Foursquare Church, the answer lies within its very doctrine.

Foursquare Church in Kigali began in 2005. The International Church of the Foursquare Gospel sent Rev. Roger Brubeck to Kigali. He established the first Foursquare church in Kimironko Sector.

Since then, the Foursquare Church has grown. Numerous branches have been planted throughout Rwanda. Some even have permanent church buildings. The church actively acquires land to expand its reach.

The Foursquare Church of Rwanda is also known as City Light Church. It is a beacon of faith in Kigali. City Light strives to offer hope, healing and community.

In September 2006, the first transitional Board was appointed. The Foursquare Mission International Regional Missionary oversaw this. By September 2009, the first elected Board was in place.

The National Board drafted and approved the Foursquare Gospel Church Constitution. This followed Rwanda’s laws for religious organizations. In 2013, the Foursquare Church received its legal status.

The church first licensed its leaders in 2007. Four pastors were licensed. Others followed. Today the Foursquare Church operates fully under current legislation.

The Foursquare Church emphasizes spiritual integrity. It upholds Christ’s teachings. This is evident in worship and social outreach. Actions align with biblical principles.

Community engagement thrives here. Foursquare Church fosters belonging within and beyond its walls. This strengthens ties within the church and the wider community.

The social welfare department supports church members. It also collaborates with the Kimironko sector to provide health insurance for vulnerable households. They pay school fees for students. They share Christmas and New Year with poor families in the church.

Speaking of community support, Clemence Mukamuganza is a Foursquare Church member. She says that the church pays school fees for her six children. It also provides health insurance for ten family members. Foursquare visits her when she is sick and brings her assistance.

The Foursquare Church also provides job opportunities. Competent members work in administration and security. This improves their incomes and family welfare.

Gaspard Sebasambizi works as security personnel at the church. His salary sustains his family of nine. He thanks the church members whose contributions make it possible.

In 2021, the Foursquare Church unveiled its upgraded two-story building. It accommodates 2,000 people. New equipment enhances the space.

Bishop Dr. Fidele Masengo explains the Foursquare doctrine. It centers on Jesus as redeemer and savior. It emphasizes baptism in the Holy Spirit. It prepares the Church for Jesus’ coming.

The Foursquare Church continues to support the government. It encourages members to participate in government programs. Contributions from members fund church expansions.
