Wondering how Fosterstown North, a seemingly quiet area today, fits into Dublin’s story? Fosterstown North sits within the Swords West Electoral Division. It is part of the Civil Parish of Swords, in the Barony of Nethercross and County Dublin.

Fosterstown North is also known as Fostertown North. The official Irish name for Fosterstown North is Baile an Fhoraistéaraigh Thuaidh. Both names are recognised. You can find it on Logainm.ie. It is located at 53° 26′ 46″ N latitude and 6° 13′ 59″ W longitude.

This townland isn’t huge. Nationwide, Fosterstown North ranks as the 49426th largest townland. Within County Dublin, it’s the 682nd largest. We don’t know of any subtownlands within Fosterstown North.

Fosterstown North was added to OpenStreetMap on August 4, 2015. Brianh was the user who added it.

In more recent times, plans have been submitted for a large housing development in Fosterstown North. J. Murphy Developments Limited seeks to construct a Strategic Housing Development here. The project is estimated to cost €158.2 million. It will cover 75369 square meters.

The development includes 10 blocks. These range from 4 to 10 storeys high. They will house 645 residential units. There will be a mix of one, two, and three-bedroom apartments. Each will have private balconies and terraces.

The apartment blocks will also include non-residential units. A community facility and a childcare facility are planned. Five commercial units are also in the works. Developers plan to dedicate a large portion of the space to open amenities. The plans include two playing pitches and a children’s play area. There is also an ancillary play area for the childcare facility. Both surface and basement-level parking will be available for bicycles and cars.

Swords has seen its population almost double in twenty years. This development could help accommodate the growth. It may also add amenities to this part of North Dublin. 3D Design Bureau produced architectural CGIs and verified view montages for the planning application.

Arrow Architects ApS, PCOT Consultants, and John Spain Associates are also involved. Waterman Moylan serves as consulting engineer. Mitchell & Associates is the landscape consultant. AWN Consulting Limited is the environmental engineer.

Fosterstown North is a place in transition. From its historical roots to its future development, it continues to evolve.
