Across the rolling hills near Ampitatafika, the FJKM Vinany Tempoly Malala church stands as a testament to a whispered prediction and a swirling gust of wind. FJKM Vinany Tempoly Malala traces its origins back to royalty. Two siblings, Andriamasinavalona, journeyed southwest. Andriamalama settled in Ambohimamory. The younger sibling, Andriantomponitany, and his wife, Ratomponandrianina, chose a nearby hilltop. One day, near the quarry, they paused, lost in thought. Ratomponandrianina sighed, “Imagine traveling so far to find a husband!” Andriantomponitany replied, “And imagine my journey to Antsahafilo to find a wife!” Suddenly, a fierce wind swept through, snatching objects into the air. Each secretly thought, “If I am truly of royal blood, may this shawl stay with me!” Miraculously, the shawls remained. They smiled, recognizing a shared experience. Andriantomponitany declared, “Let’s call this place ‘Vinany,’ meaning ‘Prediction,’ for the wind and our thoughts aligned.” FJKM Vinany Tempoly Malala became a realized prediction. In 1881, Andriantomponitany’s descendants, literally “Prince of the Earth,” built the FJKM Vinany Tempoly Malala church. Today, their lineage spans the globe, from France and Europe to England, Africa, and Reunion Island. This diaspora formed the AOV association, connecting descendants of Vinany Tempoly Malala. In 2003, a Parisian family reunion sparked the creation of a cultural association. Their contributions have restored the FJKM Vinany Tempoly Malala church, supported the retirement of Pastor Désiré Ramamonjisoa and his wife, and enabled the purchase of a church organ for the 125th anniversary celebration. Each year, a joyous picnic unites the Vinany descendants, culminating in a special New Year’s greeting.
