The first church building opened on October 3 1869. It was on Seventh Street near F. Alonzo Horton the city’s founder donated the land. He even gave the congregation a bell. It was the first church bell in San Diego. Today that bell hangs in the rafters of a church in University City. It still rings on special occasions. That’s quite a legacy.
