Frank Clemmons was a friend of Charles Mason. Mason was the founder of the Church of God in Christ. He also was a leader in the Azusa Street Revival. This revival was the birthplace of Pentecostalism in 1906. It was a place where people of all races celebrated God. Clemmons reconnected Mason with William J. Seymour. Seymour led the Azusa Street Revival.
