First Christian Church Disciples of Christ

Founded in 1941, the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ has a unique story to tell. Initially, members gathered in homes, yearning for a dedicated space. Their dream materialized with a small church building. Later, in 1957, the church acquired its current land near downtown Las Vegas. First Christian Church Disciples of Christ continued to grow. The Hope Building, constructed in 1958, held the first services. Now divided into twelve rooms, it stands as a testament to the church’s humble beginnings. A new sanctuary and Fellowship Hall were added in 1964, further expanding the church’s capacity to serve its community. The Love Building, housing classrooms and offices, followed in 1980. The present sanctuary, completed in 1991, marks the latest chapter in the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ’s physical evolution. Over eighty years, thirteen pastors have guided the congregation. The last thirty years saw two long-serving pastors, including a clergy couple. First Christian Church Disciples of Christ stands as a beacon of inclusivity in Las Vegas. It opens its doors to four other congregations: the Samoan Congregational Christian Church, Northwest Community Church, Joyful Church, and the First Thai/Laos Presbyterian Church. This interfaith harmony showcases the church’s commitment to unity and acceptance. Beyond worship, First Christian Church Disciples of Christ actively supports those in need. They partner with organizations like Miracle League Las Vegas and host support groups. Their generosity extends to providing space for community programs, solidifying their role as a pillar of support in Las Vegas.
