The story began in August 1944. A group of 117 people gathered in a tent. They formed the Universal Baptist Church. In 1945 they completed their first building. It served multiple purposes such as a sanctuary, office space and classrooms. Today this building is the worship center for Iglesia Bautista Resurrection and church offices.
In March 1947 Jacinto City became incorporated. The church changed its name. It became First Baptist Church of Jacinto City. By August 1951 the church completed a new sanctuary. This marked its 7th anniversary.
The First Baptist Church of Jacinto City continued to grow. The Education Building was completed in June 1965. It provided classrooms and a nursery. This space catered to infants and children up to three years old. The church expanded further. The Christian Family Life Center opened in July 1986. It included a full-size gym, kitchen, a fellowship area and classrooms.
The sanctuary was renovated for the church’s 50th anniversary. The First Baptist Church of Jacinto City got a makeover including a new sign and logo. The church welcomes everyone. Come see the work God has done within the members.
Many changes occurred in Jacinto City. The church maintained a strong Christian foundation. Bro. Rick Blount celebrated his 15th anniversary as pastor. The church recognized its 75th anniversary on August 18, 2019.
