Rev Kamau Welcher leads the church. He’s a dynamic preacher teacher and pastor. He’s also the founder of Revelation Knowledge an educational consulting company. He’s a man of integrity with a life call to transform lives. His work spans various settings from counseling to keynote addresses. He even served as a chaplain at Emory University’s Wesley Woods Geriatric facility.
The First Baptist Church of East Point offers a wide range of ministries. There’s a youth ministry a puppet ministry and a young adult ministry. A seasoned adult ministry caters to the needs of older members. A thriving music ministry uses musical talents to exalt Jesus. Choirs include the Sanctuary Choir the Voices of Praise and the Male Chorale. A children’s choir and handbell choir also enrich the services. Other ministries support veterans and offer health and wellness initiatives.
The church’s history includes an interesting connection. It intertwines its roots with “The Fellowship Group” from Christian Fellowship Baptist Church in College Park. This group initially worshipped at the Sheraton Gateway Hotel before moving to the First Baptist Church of East Point in 2006. Dr Emmanuel L McCall served as pastor after the founding of CFBC. He later served as pastor of the First Baptist Church East Point until 2019. Rev Kamau Welcher was then installed as pastor in January 2020.
