“Fight or Flight”, so named for the emotional response it portrays, is a mural by Dublin artist Pamela Byrne. It’s painted on the side of a street cabinet on a busy thoroughfare in Dublin and depicts two children, one with outstretched arms, the other with a hand on their chest. This is a work of street art with a powerful message about the modern world and the way that we as children, and even as adults, often respond to our surroundings with a sense of fear, uncertainty, or urgency. The artist, Pamela Byrne, is a well-known figure in the Dublin street art scene. Though the mural is a work of art, it has also become a symbol of the city. It’s a small, but important part of the history about how the city expresses itself through art.
