Was there ever a grander home than the Palacio Ferreyra in Córdoba? I see you eyeing its magnificent Beaux-Arts façade. Built between 1912 and 1916 for the prominent physician, Dr. Martín Ferreyra, this palace wasn’t just a home, it was a statement. Dr. Ferreyra, inspired by the Parisian Hôtel Kessler, spared no expense. He commissioned the renowned French architect Ernst-Paul Sanson and brought in the Parisian firm Krieger for the interior decoration. The result? A 51,666 square-foot masterpiece reminiscent of the grandeur of Louis XIV. Can you imagine living here, with 60 bedrooms and 19 bathrooms at your disposal? The Palacio Ferreyra, now home to the Evita Fine Arts Museum, still retains its original elegance. The entrance hall, with its grand staircase and wrap-around balcony, is a sight to behold. While much of the palace has been modernized with elevators, the entrance hall remains a testament to its original splendor. Sadly, the expansive gardens designed by Charles Thays are more park-like now. However, they still offer a peaceful escape from the city bustle. Inside the Palacio Ferreyra, over 32,300 square feet is dedicated to the museum. Here, you can admire the works of renowned Argentine artists. Paintings, sculptures, and photographs fill 12 rooms, showcasing the country’s rich artistic heritage. The Palacio Ferreyra stands not only as a testament to a bygone era of opulence, but also as a vibrant center for the arts in Córdoba.
