Curious about a place known as the “Land of Milk and Honey?” That is Fengdian. Today, we will discover Fengdian together.

Fengdian is not just another stop on your journey. It is a place steeped in history and known for its laid-back atmosphere. Culture and relaxation are emphasized here. This makes Fengdian one of the most livable mega-cities in China.

Chengdu, where Fengdian is located, is found on the edge of the fertile plains of the Red Basin in China’s Sichuan Province. This rich agricultural land gives Chengdu its nickname. The Funan River flows through the city. It once carried heavy boat traffic. That boat traffic has greatly diminished since the 1960s.

Winters in Fengdian are cold. The average January temperature is 5.6 degrees Celsius. That is 42 degrees Fahrenheit. But winters are milder here than in the lower Yangtze region. The Qin Mountains block cold Siberian winds. Expect near-freezing temperatures at night. Light frost is common each winter. Snow is rare because of the lack of precipitation.

Summers are warm and humid in Fengdian. Highs often exceed 30 degrees Celsius. That is 86 degrees Fahrenheit. The humidity makes the heat sweltering. Temperatures above 35 degrees Celsius are very rare. The highest recorded temperature is 37.3 degrees Celsius. Most rain falls between May and September. This is due to the southwest monsoon. Spring and autumn are the best times to visit. The weather is pleasant during these seasons.

Air pollution can sometimes be hazardous. Chengdu has an average particulate pollution of 72.9mm per cubic meter. Smog can be severe. Always check the readings before going out. It is good to carry a mask with you.

Getting around Fengdian and Chengdu is easy. The metro line 10 runs between the airport and city center. Bus number 1 offers express service. The taxi fare from the airport to the city center averages 45 Chinese Yuan. There is no extra charge for luggage.

Chengdu Tianfu International Airport is a major entrance to the city. It opened in June 2021. The airport has two terminals. Terminal 1 is dedicated to international flights. Seven different buses offer express services to destinations. They operate 24 hours. The fare is 15 Chinese Yuan from 6 am to 11:30 pm. There is an extra 10 Chinese Yuan charge at night. Chengdu’s subway lines 18 and 19 can also bring you to the city.

Train connections are available to most cities. High-speed trains to Chongqing depart from both North Chengdu Station and East Chengdu Station. The first line of the Chengdu Metro opened in October 2010.

The city buses are also useful. Bus tickets cost 1 or 2 Chinese Yuan. Pay by putting the exact amount into a metal box. There is no change given. Official taxis are green or blue and have meters. Have your destination written in Chinese. Drivers do not speak English.

I hope this has given you a taste of what Fengdian and Chengdu are like. Remember to embrace the culture. Enjoy the food and appreciate the relaxed way of life in Fengdian.
