Founded in 1966 Fellowship Chapel Ministries Church of God in Christ began its journey. Reverend James E Wadsworth Jr and about 100 members started their worship services. For three months these services were held in the Hall Metropolitan Funeral Home. Later they moved to the Diggs Funeral Home. This wasn’t the church’s permanent home though.

Fellowship Chapel Ministries Church of God in Christ found its first church building in 1967 at 18495 Wyoming. The congregation grew quickly. They outgrew that space. Through the hard work of the pastor officers organizations and community members a new building was purchased. This new home at 19555 West McNichols was dedicated in 1980.

Reverend Wendell Anthony became the second pastor in 1986. He succeeded Reverend Wadsworth who had passed away. Under Reverend Anthony’s leadership the church continued to expand. New assistant ministers were ordained. These ministers helped expand the church’s outreach. They also strengthened its cultural emphasis and spiritual work.

The church’s growth continued and its physical capacity was stretched. Reverend Anthony envisioned a Fellowship Chapel Village. A building expansion committee was formed. Amandla Community Development Corporation was founded. This non-profit secured the land for the new church.

In 2002 groundbreaking occurred for the present building. It’s located at 7707 West Outer Drive. Over 2000 people marched from the old location to the new building in 2005. This new building is a testament to faith work and community. Fellowship Chapel Ministries Church of God in Christ continues to thrive. It remains a vital part of the Detroit community. Its rich history demonstrates unwavering dedication to spiritual growth and community engagement. It is a place of faith love and fellowship.
