“Founded in 1927, FC Brünninghausen isn’t just a football club. It’s a story of resilience.” Standing here at Am Hombruchsfeld, home to FC Brünninghausen, you’re standing on hallowed ground. This is where the dreams of local players come alive.

Let me tell you about FC Brünninghausen’s beginnings. It started as FC Vorwärts Brünninghausen a worker’s sports club. But in 1933, the National Socialists banned and dissolved it. It wasn’t until 1946 that the club was reborn. The name changed. The spirit never wavered.

FC Brünninghausen offers more than just football. They have volleyball, table tennis, gymnastics and body fit. This shows their commitment to the community.

The football team first reached the Bezirksklasse in 1975. In 2009, they reached the Landesliga Westfalen undefeated. Then in 2011, they became champions and moved up to the Westfalenliga. The club even tasted Oberliga Westfalen from 2016 to 2019. They made a comeback in the season 2023/24.

Did you know that Stefan Heinig, owner of KiK and TEDi, supported the club? He used to play and referee for FC Brünninghausen. His sponsorship helped the club rise through the ranks. Some fans jokingly called them BSG KiK/TEDi.

There were even talks of a merger with Hombrucher SV in 2017. But the deal never happened. FC Brünninghausen continued its own path. They faced setbacks. They were relegated from the Oberliga in 2019. But in 2023, they bounced back. They won the promotion play-off against SC Peckeloh.

Now, look around. The Sportplatz Am Hombruchsfeld holds 2,800 fans. In 2009, the old pitch was replaced with artificial turf. In 2013, they added a covered stand. It has 200 seats.

FC Brünninghausen has a squad of 25 players. The average age is about 25. The club’s colors are blue and white. They represent the fighting spirit of Brünninghausen. The club has around 1,000 members.

The stadium has seen joy and heartbreak. It has witnessed triumphs and defeats. But through it all, FC Brünninghausen has remained a symbol of local pride. A testament to the power of community. So next time you hear the name FC Brünninghausen, remember its story. Remember the hard work. Remember the dedication. Remember the dreams. They continue here at Am Hombruchsfeld.
