Father Collins Park isn’t just a park; it’s a green haven. It’s Ireland’s first wholly sustainable park. It’s a place where you can easily feel at peace. It’s a place where people can gather and enjoy the outdoors. The park was named after a local priest who worked to ensure public access to the lands. Father Collins Park was opened in 2009. The park is located in Donaghmede, on Hole in the Wall Road. Father Collins Park is a modern marvel when it comes to sustainability. It has 5 wind turbines that generate power, a green roof on the sports pavilion, a lake and a playground. The lake is a stunning centerpiece of the park. It reflects the sky. It’s a place where you can see swans gliding or people fishing. The wind turbines generate power for the park’s lights, water features, and more. They save an estimated 320 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year. Father Collins Park is a great place to visit in any season. In the summer, you can spread out a blanket on a grassy field, watch a concert at the amphitheater, or play a game of soccer. In the winter, you can watch the birds migrate or just walk around and enjoy the fresh air. In this park, you are sure to find a way to enjoy the outdoors. What do you say, let’s take a walk?
