Is it possible to find a harmonious blend of history, architecture, and community spirit? The answer lies within the Farlow Hill Historic District. It is a residential neighborhood in Newton, Massachusetts.

But how did this neighborhood come to be? It all started with John Farlow. He was a local businessman. His estate spanned 40 acres on Farlow Hill. After Farlow’s death in the 1890s, his estate was subdivided. Aspinwall and Lincoln, an engineering firm, designed the subdivision. The area was equipped with modern amenities. Water, sewer, gas lines, and electrical service were installed. In 1907, a newspaper called it Newton’s choicest residential section.
