Didn’t Guangzhou decide to hide its treasures? Fangcun is one of them. Welcome to Fangcun. This area was once known as Fa Ti. That name came from its Cantonese pronunciation. It was well known for flower and ornamental tree production. This started as early as the 9th century.

Fangcun is more than just a place. It’s a testament to Guangzhou’s rich history. It became an independent district in 1949. Then, it merged with the Liwan District in 2005.

But Fangcun’s story goes back further. Thousands of years ago, families from Zhejiang Province migrated here. They brought their tea-growing skills. This gave birth to Chajiao Village. Villagers remembered the scenery of Jiangnan. They planted flowers alongside tea. This gradually turned Fangcun into the first flower town in Lingnan. It was known as Flower Land.

Fangcun became an important tea trade port. From the 1960s to the 1980s, Fangcun was a jasmine tea producer. Its products sold well at home and abroad. Fangcun Dachongkou was also the fermentation test base of Pu’er tea.

In the 1990s, the Fangcun tea wholesale market rose. It brought together experienced industry experts. They represented the highest level of the industry. Today, the Fangcun Tea Market is the largest in China. It has the most concentrated shops. It boasts the most complete varieties. It sees the largest trading volume. It has the widest reach in China. This tea market has the reputation: “The world tea relies on China. The Chinese tea industry relies on Fangcun.”

Take a moment to breathe in the aroma around us. This vital place is full of vitality. It represents the future. It is the integration of the tea industry with culture, tourism, e-commerce and creativity. Fangcun spreads Lingnan culture. It promotes the transformation of China’s tea development.
