The Fakultät für Architektur und Landschaft is located near the city center. It sits right by the Herrenhausen Gardens. One of Europe’s most famous baroque parks. The building itself is a sight to behold. An exceptional example of Brutalist architecture from the 1960s. It’s built in the Bauhaus tradition. A stunning blend of form and function.
This isn’t just about theory. It’s about hands-on experience. Students have access to workshops and studios. There are over 1000 student workplaces. They also have high-speed internet and access to all the digital services of the LUH central IT services LUIS. The technical facilities are incredible. There are workshops and labs for modelling and prototyping. They use various materials like wood plastics and metal. A professional photo studio is also available. There are even up-to-date computer pools and digital labs for modelling digital manufacturing robotics and augmented reality. It’s a truly state-of-the-art facility.
The Fakultät für Architektur und Landschaft boasts an impressive 1300 students. Around 11% are international students. There are roughly 220 staff members. This includes 170 full-time staff and around 50 visiting lecturers and critics. The faculty has its own international office. This supports incoming students and manages over 80 agreements for international cooperation.
The Fakultät für Architektur und Landschaft’s research focus is Future Habitats. This is an incredibly forward-thinking initiative. They focus on shaping spaces for sustainability. Their goal is to innovate design research in architecture and the built environment. The faculty works on four interlinked research lines.
