$10000. That’s how much Emmaus Lutheran Church raised to help establish Faith Lutheran Church. Can you imagine the dedication? Faith Lutheran Church in Denver began not as a grand vision but as a quiet ambition within Emmaus. Members envisioned expanding God’s word into a new neighborhood. Their efforts were pivotal. They didn’t just donate money. They invested their time.

Faith Lutheran Church stands as a testament to this early devotion. Its history is one of community growth. It’s a story of overcoming wartime restrictions. The original church building was constructed amidst the challenges of World War II. On August 20 1944 the church was dedicated. 538 people attended. A $1500 offering ensured a debt-free start for this new ministry.

Think of the people. About thirty members from Emmaus transferred to Faith. Emmaus also provided financial support a $1000 gift and a loan of another $1000. This wasn’t just a split. It was a family passing on its legacy. Faith Lutheran Church’s first pastor Reverend R.E. Schulz served until 1945. He was followed by Reverend Carl Mehl. Reverend Warren H. Willie took over in 1952. Under his leadership the congregation grew rapidly.

Growth led to expansion. In 1950 a school wing with classrooms a library and a basement was built. A parsonage was also constructed. It unfortunately burned down later. The church’s location offered an unexpected blessing. A previously US-owned irrigation canal was decommissioned. The land was then deeded to the church. This allowed them to utilize the space.

The current sanctuary of Faith Lutheran Church was dedicated in 1956. It can comfortably seat 430 people. With some adjustments an additional 100 seats could be added. The cost of construction was $103000 excluding furnishings. A remarkable 4-rank Wicks pipe organ added to the beauty costing another $11000. Another rank was added in 1976.

Reverend Willie retired in 1974. Many pastors served after him each shaping the community. The church faced challenges and triumphs. It experienced growth and change. Through all this the unwavering spirit of faith remained. Faith Lutheran Church continues to thrive. It continues to serve Denver. Its story is a captivating testament to the power of faith and community.
