Did you know that Faith Gospel Assembly Church in New York City began as a dream? More than thirty years ago a small group of Keralites arrived in New York seeking a better life. Rev Dr Joy P Oommen had a vision to establish a church a spiritual haven for these immigrants. He called it New York Gospel Assembly.

This wasn’t just any church. It was the first incorporated Malayalee Pentecostal church in America. Imagine the challenges they faced establishing a place of worship in a new land. They faced adversity but perseverance and faith helped them overcome obstacles.

Their first service was held on May 24 1970 in a building on 20-15th street in Manhattan. Growth led to a move to Richmond Hill. The church wasn’t just a place for worship. It became a vibrant community center. It provided spiritual support. It fostered youth programs. It even spearheaded the formation of the Pentecostal Youth Fellowship of America in 1980.

The church continued to flourish. By 1995 they needed a larger sanctuary. God provided a new space less than ten blocks away. Faith Gospel Assembly Church continues to thrive in its current location at 133-17 101 Ave Richmond Hill NY 11419.

Over thirty years of hard work and blessings created the atmosphere of praise and worship you feel here today. Each time people gather the sanctuary fills with joy and devotion. The legacy of Faith Gospel Assembly Church reflects the unwavering faith of its founders and the enduring spirit of its community. Their story is a testament to the power of faith and the transformative impact of community. It’s more than a church it is a living embodiment of hope and resilience.
