Stepping inside, one almost expects to hear the echoes of “A Need for Workers,” the poignant, unfinished sermon of Reverend Marjorie Perienchief-Boston. This is the Faith Christian Missionary Church of God. It stands as a testament to her unwavering faith and dedication. Reverend Boston, affectionately known as “Rev. Marge,” founded Faith Mission in 1997. The first service was held in the Royal Regency Hotel in Yonkers. Her husband, Donald, accepted Christ that very day, becoming the church’s first member. Faith Christian Missionary Church of God blossomed under Rev. Marge’s leadership for a decade. The church offered college scholarships, fed the hungry, and provided Christmas gifts to countless families. She retired in 2008, returning to her home church, Grace Baptist. Reverend Boston appointed Reverends Gay and Willis Steele as Faith Mission’s new leaders. The church was then adopted into the Grace Baptist Church ministry. Its name changed to Faith Mission – Grace Baptist Church, Yonkers.

The church continued to thrive. Deacons were ordained. They moved to a larger location on Buckingham Road. They established a youth dance ministry, “Faith in Motion,” and held an annual Caribbean Day Fiesta. In a heartbreaking turn, Rev. Marge passed away in 2015, on the very day of Faith Mission’s 18th anniversary. She was preparing her sermon. The Steeles relocated to California in 2016. Minister Kimmie McEachin (Boyd) became Faith Mission’s next ordained pastoral leader. In 2018, under Rev. McEachin (Boyd), the church’s name changed again to Grace Baptist Church of Yonkers. They continued their community outreach. The church persevered through the pandemic, holding virtual services and returning to the sanctuary with no lives lost.

By 2022, the church had moved to Radford Street. They celebrated Faith Mission’s 25th anniversary as Grace Baptist Church of Yonkers. In 2023, facing absorption into another congregation, the deacons and members reorganized. They reclaimed their original founding and ministry philosophy under the name Faith Christian Missionary Church of God. Transitional pastors led services at the Runyon Heights Community House, focusing on spiritual growth and evangelism. By December 2024, Faith Christian Missionary Church of God had secured a new home on Ashburton Avenue. This church, born from one woman’s vision, continues to serve its community. It remains a powerful symbol of resilience, faith, and dedication to the word of God.
