Have you considered that language is more than just words? It is a gateway to culture and understanding. Right here we find the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language – VNU USSH.
The Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language plays a vital role. It trains international students in Vietnamese language and culture. It also offers Vietnamese Studies degree programs. These programs are for both international and Vietnamese students.
Back in 2009 the Faculty welcomed its first Vietnamese students. They majored in Vietnamese Studies. The Faculty aims high and plans to offer doctoral programs. It strives to be a leader in Vietnamese Studies. It also wants to be a leader in Vietnamese Language Training. This applies both in Vietnam and overseas.
But let us step back for a moment. Let’s consider the broader context of language studies within VNU USSH. The Faculty of Linguistics is one of the oldest at USSH. It is a respected institution for linguistics training. Its mission is to train experts in various fields. These fields include linguistics and Vietnamese language. They also include languages of Vietnamese ethnic groups. Applied linguistics also falls under this umbrella. Think of sign language, academic language, and legal linguistics.
For over 60 years the Faculty of Linguistics has been busy. It has trained about 25000 students. These include Vietnamese and international students. Many graduates have become leaders. They work in Vietnam’s Party, State, and social organizations. Many international graduates hold important positions too. They are in government bodies and research institutions in their own countries.
The Faculty of Linguistics has seen high admission scores. This is thanks to experienced lecturers and researchers. They have developed training programs of regional and international standard. Impressively 90% of graduates find suitable jobs.
The Faculty has received awards for its achievements. These include the Labor Medal of the third Order in 2001. Also the Labor Medal of the second Order in 2006.
The Faculty continues to develop. It is expanding its training and research. It is also promoting internationalization through cooperation and publications. New specialized programs are being developed.
So as we stand here before the Faculty of Vietnamese Studies and Language, remember its mission. It preserves and promotes Vietnamese language and culture. It trains future leaders and bridges cultural gaps. It contributes significantly to Vietnam’s academic landscape.
