Originally, the Facultatea de Finanțe și Credit provided university training through two sections. These were Finance and Credit. In 1958 it changed its name to the Faculty of Finance, Credit and Accounting Records. Later in 1967 it became simply the Faculty of Finance. A further change in 1974 led to the name Faculty of Finance-Accounting. For two decades it was known as the Faculty of Finance, Banks and Accounting.
The current name, Facultatea de Finanțe, Asigurări, Bănci și Burse de Valori was adopted on November 16 1993. This followed the reorganization into two independent faculties. The institution’s motto is Always creative Forever leading. This reflects its commitment to innovation and leadership in financial education.
The Facultatea de Finanțe, Asigurări, Bănci și Burse de Valori is located on Str. Mihail Moxa. Here students pursue bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The bachelor’s program offers studies in Finance and Banking. It is available in Romanian and English. A distance learning program is available in Bucharest and Buzău.
The Facultatea de Finanțe, Asigurări, Bănci și Burse de Valori offers diverse master’s programs. These include Banking and Insurance and Applied Finance. Further master’s programs include Corporate Finance and Taxation. Students can also pursue Financial Management and Investments. Actuarial Techniques is also available. The Doctoral School of Finance offers advanced research opportunities.
Several research centers operate within the Facultatea de Finanțe, Asigurări, Bănci și Burse de Valori. CEFIMO founded in 2000 focuses on financial and monetary research. It received certification from the Ministry of Education and Research three years later. CARFIB established in 2009 is a research branch of the Doctoral School of Finance and Banking. It focuses on advanced fundamental and applied research.
Throughout its history, numerous deans have led the Facultatea de Finanțe, Asigurări, Bănci și Burse de Valori. Among them are Anton Alexandrescu and Gheorghe Enache. Nicolae Glăja and Victor Puchiță also served. More recent deans include Ion Stancu and Tatiana Moșteanu. The current dean is Ionela Costică.
