They leased it to the Southern Indian Health Council. The council provides vital healthcare services. It serves not only the Ewiiaapaayp but also six other Kumeyaay tribes. It even serves non-Native residents of the area.

The Ewiiaapaayp Band is a self-governing tribe. They are governed by an elected council. Their governance follows a constitution ratified in 1973 and amended in 2002. They have a rich culture.
