Today we are discovering a smaller park called Evergreen Park. It is located near Soundview Park in the Bronx.

Evergreen Park provides seasonal entertainment hosted by NYC Parks. It offers a place for relaxation and recreation.

Acquired in 1888 Bronx Park became part of a system of parks. This system aimed to preserve land during New York City’s expansion. John Mullaly was the father of the Bronx park system. He advocated for more open spaces. He compared New York City’s park acreage to that of Paris. Mullaly wanted 4000 acres set aside for parks in the Bronx.

Evergreen Gardens, located near Evergreen Park at 950 and 955 Evergreen Avenue, has 357 residential units. It also has 253 on-site parking spaces.

The complex is near the 6 subway line. This provides access to Manhattan’s 125th Street Station and Grand Central Station.

Evergreen Gardens is near the BX5 bus route. It is a short bus ride to the Soundview Ferry stop.

Within Bronx Park there are two lakes. One is Lake Agassiz. The other is Bronx Lake. Bronx Lake used to have a boathouse.
