Opened in 1976, the Eventforum Castrop-Rauxel stands as a testament to architectural vision. But its story began much earlier. The idea for such a complex arose in the 1960s.

The Eventforum Castrop-Rauxel is more than just a building. It’s a cultural hub in the heart of the Ruhr region. The Eventforum Castrop-Rauxel includes the Stadthalle, Europahalle, and the Westfälisches Landestheater studio stage. Together around Europaplatz they form a significant cultural center known beyond Castrop-Rauxel.

Originally designed by Arne Jacobsen, a key figure in modern functionalism, he did not see its completion. Jacobsen passed away in 1971. Architects Otto Weitling and Hans Dissing, who had worked with Jacobsen on other projects, completed the Eventforum Castrop-Rauxel.

The Stadthalle Castrop-Rauxel, a part of the Eventforum, is a versatile space. It hosts music, theater, exhibitions, conferences, banquets, and balls. Its flexible design allows for diverse event types. Since mid-2019, the Stadthalle Castrop-Rauxel has been the permanent venue for the Ruhrpott musical “Radio Ruhrpott”.

The Stadthalle’s theater hall covers about 400 square meters. It accommodates up to 620 people with seating. For concerts without seating, it can hold up to 800 people. Ergonomically padded seats ensure visitor comfort. The seating rows rise to provide optimal stage views from every seat. The hall can be transformed into a level space if needed. Movable walls allow for flexible room layouts. The stage size and orchestra pit can also be adjusted.

The Eventforum Castrop-Rauxel boasts a spacious U-shaped foyer that surrounds the event hall. Two entrances lead from the upper foyer into the hall. Drinks and snacks are available there. The lower foyer houses cloakrooms and restrooms. The lower entrance is accessible from the Block F underground parking garage, also offering disabled access.

Technically, the Stadthalle Castrop-Rauxel is well-equipped. Above the stage, a movable portal bridge is fitted with numerous spotlights. These create various lighting effects. The in-house sound system ensures excellent audio quality for both speech and music.

Culinary needs are met by Stolzenhoff, which operates the restaurant between the Stadthalle and Europahalle. They also provide catering services.

The Stadthalle Castrop-Rauxel provides disabled-accessible restrooms and reserved seating. Staff are available to assist visitors with special needs.

Getting here is easy. By car, take Habinghorster Str. 235 or the A42, exiting at Castrop-Rauxel. By bus, lines 480 or 482 stop at “Europaplatz”. Several hotels are within walking distance, including the Hotel Raj Mahal.

The Eventforum Castrop-Rauxel is a modern venue suitable for a wide range of events. Its atmosphere is enhanced by advanced lighting and sound. The Stadthalle Castrop-Rauxel offers a comfortable and adaptable space for all occasions. Peter Breuer manages the Stadthalle Castrop-Rauxel. It is a place where memories are made.
