A beacon of faith stands before you. It is the Evangelistic Restoration Church. Founded on June 30 1997 the Evangelistic Restoration Church also known as E.R.C. began with a vision. The Holy Spirit guided its creation. The organizational meeting took place at Trinity Fellowship Baptist Church. Pastor Gary Scott of Trinity Fellowship led the meeting. He provided instruction to the mission body.

The congregation chose a name after thoughtful consideration. They selected Evangelistic Restoration Church. It would be known as E.R.C. publicly socially and spiritually. Membership applications were distributed. Seventy-three people sought membership. Nine candidates were ready for baptism. At 7:48 p.m. on that Monday the mission body became a church. This marked the official beginning of Evangelistic Restoration Church.

Many ministries quickly formed. These included Hospitality with Ushers and Greeters. Also included were Cup and Armor Bearers and Pastor’s partners. The Intercessory Prayer Ministry and Video Tape Ministry began too. The Music Ministry played a vital role from the start. Later a Child Care Ministry arose. Also the Praise Dance Ministry and Banner Ministry joined.

The first church service occurred on July 6 1997. It took place at Pentecostal Baptist Church. The service started at 8:00 a.m. The congregation worshipped there for seven months. Then they moved to Greater Mt. Zion Church’s Fellowship Hall. They stayed there for eight months. After that they worshipped at the Braeswood Hotel until January 1999. Before arriving at their current location the church was at 11626 Cullen Blvd. This was in Southeast Houston in the old Roberts Auto Bldg.

Now the Evangelistic Restoration Church is located at 5002 Wilmington St. This is in Southeast Houston. Bishop R. Joseph Cooks welcomes all to visit. The church hopes visitors sense God’s love. This love shines through smiles and worship. The website offers only a glimpse of His glory. The church aims to aid your spiritual journey. They want to bring everyone closer to Christ and each other.

Evangelistic Restoration Church offers many ways to serve. These include the Armor Bearer Ministry and Audio/Video Ministry. The Evangelism Ministry and Hospitality Ministry are vital. The Intercessory Ministry and Music Ministry thrive. The Usher Board Ministry and Youth Ministry are active. Also the Marriage Ministry serves.
