Could you imagine Mammolshain without its churches? The Evangelische Kirche Mammolshain stands as a testament to the village’s spiritual heart. It is a beacon for the community.

Mammolshain itself is a part of Königstein im Taunus. It sits on the Taunus’s southern slopes. The village enjoys a favorable climate. This made it a haven for children with lung ailments. Mammolshain is also famous for its chestnut trees.

The history of Mammolshain stretches back centuries. In 1191, it was first mentioned as “Meinboldeshagen.” Over time, the village was linked to powerful families. These included the Counts of Nürings and the Lords of Bolanden-Falkenstein. By the 14th century, Mammolshain became a fiefdom. It went to the Schwalbach bailiwick. Later, in 1539, Ludwig von Stolberg gained control. This is when Mammolshain earned village rights. In 1581, it became part of the Electorate of Mainz.

The story of Evangelische Kirche Mammolshain is interwoven with the broader history of the area. After the Second World War, the number of Catholics increased in the area. This surge in population led to the construction of the Pfarrkirche St. Michael. It was built with Mammolshain stone. Bishop Ferdinand Dirichs of Limburg consecrated the church on October 3, 1948. The old Michaelskapelle became integrated into the new church as the Marienkapelle.

In 1960, the church received four bronze bells. They rang in the tones of h-a-fis-e. The original Michaelskapelle bell was added in 2000. It had been stored away. Since 1962, it had been silent. It once served in the Michaelskapelle’s roof turret. In 1991, the Heilig-Geist-Sisters gave the bell back to the church. It was displayed at the entrance of St. Michaelskirche.

During renovations in 2000, the bell was placed back in the belfry. Since then, it rings every half hour and full hour. The Förderverein St. Michael Mammolshain actively supports the church. This association was founded in 2007. Its goal is to maintain St. Michael.

The Förderverein also focuses on preserving the Klais organ from 1902. The organ was originally built for a family in Bonn. It had two manuals and six registers. The Klais Orgelbau bought it back after the war. It was then expanded to eleven registers. In 1963, it was sold to Mammolshain. The association supports the maintenance of the church’s clock, bells and organ.
