From a gathering of faith in a humble home, Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church blossomed. In 2012, a group of believers, seeking solace and unity after separating from Christ International Baptist Church, began meeting at the Gooding residence. Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church’s story started here, fueled by prayer and a shared desire to remain connected in faith. Led by Evangelist Rose Roberts, the group grew. They established a Board of Trustees, a Board of Deacons, and a Church Secretary, formally birthing Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church. The Gooding home became a sanctuary. It overflowed with the spirit of community and worship. With growing membership, the church eventually found a new home in Southwest Philadelphia. Guided by the late Reverend Dr. G. Daniel Jones and Reverend Betty Wright-Riggins, they navigated their early days. They sought spiritual leadership and found it in Reverend Charles Jones, who became Mission Consultant/Pastor. Later, Reverend Phaedra D. Blocker joined as Assistant Pastor. Both contributed significantly to the church’s spiritual growth. In 2017, both pastors resigned, pursuing other duties. Reverend Valerie Andrews stepped in as Transitional Head in 2018. Later that year, she accepted the congregation’s call to become the permanent Pastor of Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church. So here stands Eternal Life Missionary Baptist Church, a testament to the power of faith, community, and the unwavering pursuit of spiritual growth.
