Imagine stepping back in time to 1931. It was the year when the heart of Club Atlético Talleres, the Estadio Francisco Cabasés, first opened its gates. This stadium is more affectionately known as La Boutique de Barrio Jardín.

Francisco Espinosa Amespil donated land in Barrio Jardín. This donation was crucial for the stadium’s construction. Two renowned engineers, S. Allende Posse and Agenor Villagra, designed it.

The Estadio Francisco Cabasés quickly became a beloved landmark. Locals fondly call it La Boutique. This nickname came about because its design resembled a quaint shop after renovations. The walls were painted. Advertisements were added giving the stadium a boutique-like feel.

The stadium’s inauguration was a grand affair. On October 12, 1931, Talleres played a friendly match against Rampla Juniors of Montevideo. This marked the beginning of a new era for the club.

Over the years, Estadio Francisco Cabasés underwent expansions. In 1944, the popular grandstands were enlarged. Then in 1951, stalls were installed. These enhancements increased the stadium’s capacity to 13000 spectators.

The stadium boasts an art deco style. A sculpture adorns its entrance. The sculpture is the work of Ramacciotti. The model for the sculpture was the javelin thrower Capitanelli.

Estadio Francisco Cabasés witnessed many glorious moments. In 1944, Talleres achieved one of their biggest victories here. They defeated Boca Juniors 7-3. In 1960, Talleres beat Peñarol of Uruguay 7-2.

Not all memories are of victories. In 1947, River Plate defeated Talleres 6-2 in a friendly match. In 1964, Pelé’s Santos Futebol Clube visited Córdoba. They defeated Talleres 2-1.

The Estadio Francisco Cabasés fell into disrepair. By the late 1970s, Talleres began playing at the Estadio de Córdoba. This was due to its larger capacity. In March 2008, Carlos Ahumada oversaw extensive renovations. La Boutique was then re-certified for matches.

Since 2012, Talleres has primarily used the Estadio Mario Alberto Kempes. This is because it has a larger capacity. However, the Estadio Francisco Cabasés remains important. In 2015, infrastructure improvements were made. The field was re-seeded. “El Tallerito” and the reserve team now use it.

Today, the Estadio Francisco Cabasés continues to resonate. It is a symbol of Club Atlético Talleres’ rich history. It’s a place where memories were made. It’s a testament to the enduring spirit of Argentine football.
