Can you hear the echoes of innovation? Right here, at the Escuela Técnica Superior de Ingeniería y Diseño Industrial, or ETSIDI, the air crackles with the energy of generations of engineers and designers. This institution, part of the prestigious Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, stands as a testament to the enduring power of human ingenuity. The ETSIDI wasn’t born overnight. Its roots stretch back to the late 18th century, around 1795, a time of great change and enlightenment. Imagine Madrid then, a city on the cusp of a new era. Over the centuries, this institution has evolved, moving across Madrid and changing names numerous times. From the Real Conservatorio de Artes to the Escuela de Artes Industriales, it finally became the ETSIDI in 2013. The ETSIDI occupies a building constructed in 1943, nestled between Ronda de Valencia and Calle de Bernardino Obregón. The first classes commenced here in October 1956. The ETSIDI offers a range of degrees, including Electrical Engineering, Industrial Electronic and Automatic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Chemical Engineering, and Industrial Design and Product Development. There are also double degrees and master’s programs available. Each program carries the weight of over 220 years of experience and tradition, shaping the minds that shape our future. Today, the ETSIDI buzzes with over 2,870 students, 147 professors, and 75 administrative staff. Each individual contributes to the vibrant tapestry of this unique learning environment. The ETSIDI is more than just an institution; it’s a family, a collective of passionate individuals driven by a shared desire to create, innovate, and transform. As you stand here, consider the generations who walked these halls before you, their dreams fueling the progress we see today. The ETSIDI isn’t just a building; it’s a living testament to the power of education and the enduring spirit of innovation.
