This institution, affectionately known as “Pablo Livas” or “EIPTPL,” predates the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (UANL), of which it’s now a part. Founded in 1921 as the Escuela de Artes y Labores “Pablo Livas,” it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of education in Monterrey. The school originally opened its doors to 230 female students, focusing on arts and crafts. Imagine those early days, in a time when educational opportunities for women were far more limited. The school’s history is a fascinating journey of growth and transformation. In 1933, it became part of the newly founded UANL, solidifying its role in the city’s educational landscape. A significant shift happened in 1972. The Escuela Industrial y Preparatoria Tecnica Pablo Livas – Unidad Centro opened its doors to male students, becoming a co-educational institution. This marked a new chapter in the school’s history. The school has continually adapted to meet the evolving needs of its students. In 1974, it introduced technical programs. These initial programs included Fashion Design, Medieval Caligraphy, Food Technology, Physical and Chemical Education, Visual Communication Design, and Craft Design. The curriculum has expanded since then to include Computer Systems, Gastronomy, Image Design, Fashion Design and Projection, Physical Activity and Sport, Arts, and Physiotherapy and Physical-Sports Rehabilitation.
