Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet isn’t just any school. It’s the largest in the region, a bustling hub of learning with around 1,540 students. This isn’t the school’s first home. It originally opened in 1949 as Jönköping Technical Secondary School, located on Norra Strandgatan. For years, its focus remained on technical education. Over time, Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet expanded its horizons. The school adopted its current name around the 1966-67 school year, honoring the legacy of Erik Dahlbergh. The present-day buildings, right where we stand, were gradually completed between 1961 and 1994. Today, Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet offers a wide array of programs. Students can choose from paths like Economics, Social Sciences, Natural Sciences, Technology, Healthcare and Welfare, Plumbing and Property, and introductory vocational programs. A unique piece of Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet history is “Philuren,” a humorous publication produced annually from 1951 to 1993. Created by graduating classes, it featured student profiles and jokes, often with local flavor. The profits initially funded a study trip for the graduating class. The publication ceased when the four-year technical secondary school programs were discontinued. Erik Dahlbergsgymnasiet embodies a vibrant learning environment.
