The Erfahrungsfeld zur Entfaltung der Sinne is an experiential learning center. It is run by the city of Nuremberg. You will find it about 800 meters northeast of Nuremberg’s main train station. Yet, it is nestled in the green Wöhrder Wiese in the Pegnitz valley.
The Erfahrungsfeld zur Entfaltung der Sinne first appeared in Nuremberg in 1989. Almost 30000 visitors attended. A mobile version was created after that. In 1996, the wandering exhibition returned to Nuremberg. 42000 people came to the sensory path on the banks of the Pegnitz. It had grown to 60 stations. Over 2000 guests supported a permanent Erfahrungsfeld. The city invested 250000 Mark in its own field. Since 1996, the Erfahrungsfeld zur Entfaltung der Sinne has been a permanent institution. It is the first Erfahrungsfeld under municipal sponsorship.

It features equipment from Emmi Pikler and Hugo Kückelhaus.
Hugo Kückelhaus systematically studied the importance of the senses. He believed modern technology deprives us of sensory experiences. Kückelhaus gained international recognition for his experimental field. He first presented his equipment at the 1967 World Exhibition in Montreal. In 1975, he presented the evolved sensory field at the International Crafts Exhibition EXEMPLA in Munich.
The Erfahrungsfeld zur Entfaltung der Sinne offers various regular stations. At the baking station, you can grind grain into flour. You then mix it with water and salt to make dough.
