Could a church destroyed by fire rise again even stronger? Here at the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community Church, that’s exactly what happened. This church has a remarkable story of resilience woven into its very foundation. Back in 1981, Bishop John L. Morkovski established the Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community. The community, initially nicknamed “Our Lady of Memorial Parkway”, held its first masses in the Memorial Parkway Elementary School gymnasium. Can you imagine holding mass in a school gym? Yet, the community thrived. They even began constructing a church and parish center. Tragedy struck in 1984. A devastating fire, caused by arson, ripped through the church under construction. Only the slab remained. The parish center, thankfully, was saved. This event, though heartbreaking, couldn’t extinguish the spirit of the Epiphany of the Lord community. They rallied together, rebuilding on the ashes of the fire. In October 1984, they celebrated their first liturgy in their new church. The Epiphany of the Lord Catholic Community Church stands today as a testament to their unwavering faith and determination. It’s a symbol of rebirth and the enduring power of community.
