Rev. Earl Morgan founded Emmanuel Faith Community Church. The first meeting was held at Central Elementary School in Escondido. Over 200 people attended. Early services were held in the Women’s Club House. It was located at Grand Avenue and Broadway.
Emmanuel Faith Community Church grew. It moved to a new property. This location was at 7th and Maple in Escondido. The church became known for its strong Bible teaching.
In 1971, the church broke ground. This was for its current campus on 17th Avenue. Pastor Coy Maret participated in the ceremony. He led the church for many years.
Dr. Richard Strauss and Pastor Jim Welch also led the church. They oversaw continued growth. The church reached thousands in the community. Its global ministries expanded.
Emmanuel Faith Community Church has a clear mission. It is to live in the way of Jesus with the heart of Jesus. The church’s vision is also clear. It aims to be an inter-ethnic, inter-generational community. They want to partner with Jesus. They want to bring renewal to Escondido and beyond.
Emmanuel Faith Community Church offers many services. There are five weekend worship services. These include Saturday evening services. You can expect informal attire. Services blend contemporary and traditional styles. Printed bulletins are provided. Communion is also offered.
The church provides several ministries. There is a nursery and children’s ministry. Youth and teen programs are available. Weekly small groups meet. The church supports missions and counseling.
Emmanuel Faith Community Church offers more. There is a young adult ministry. Men’s and women’s ministries exist. A choir performs. They cater for special needs. Volunteers played key roles. Leaders like Leo Calac and George Takagi were essential. Bob “Chick” Embrey brought students and families.
The church’s passion for missions began in 1963. Pastor Maret’s trip to Asia inspired the annual Missions Conference. Today, Emmanuel Faith Community Church continues to impact lives. It does so locally and globally. It stands as a beacon of faith and community.
